About Electric Bicycles

Electric bicycles work by either traditional pedaling or electric power. With electric power kicked in, the bike can travel at speeds up to 20 miles per hour. You may use pedal power for exercise, then turn on pedal assist to make climbing a hill easier on your legs and lungs. And with assist from the motor, you won’t break a sweat, even in strong headwinds. An electric bike can help persons with physical limitations, like COPD, enjoy the pleasures of exercise and bicycling outdoors again. You’ll feel younger and better after each ride!

More efficient than a standard bike, but not as costly as a true scooter or motorcycle, these bikes offer the best-of-both-worlds.

Electric bicycles do not require registration or driver’s licenses to ride. They’re perfect for short errands, day-to-day commuting, and zipping around town.

Friendly to the environment, and your pocketbook.

Electric bicycles don’t use gasoline and do not produce emissions. Each battery charges in a few hours (from a regular household outlet) for pennies worth of electricity. If you’re concerned about reducing your personal carbon footprint, or reducing the expense of driving, electric bikes are the way to go!

Street legal, no license required

Federal law says that an electrically driven bicycle is considered a “bicycle” and the laws of bicycles apply if:
– The bicycle has less than a 750 watt motor
– It has functional pedals, and
– Maximum speed is less than 20 mph
